Civil's "easiest defense in the game": a drop-zone Cover 3 Sky called
from 4-2-5 Over G (in the 4-2-5 Man Pressure playbook), every play
disguised behind the same Cover 2 shell, with a pinched line and contain.
The formation is a preference — every concept here ports to any base (he
names the Single Mug as his other favorite). It's the "concept, not a play
call" school: he ran essentially this to a 203-5 online record.
The scheme is judged against five tenets, and every adjustment you make
is a deliberate trade between them:
Take away the flats/underneath.
Take away deep balls.
Stop the run.
Contain the QB.
Pressure the QB.
The base gets four of the five at once — pressure is the one it's thin on —
and each tenet has a scripted escalation when an opponent attacks it.
