Most of this is in the game already and barely signposted. Four of the seven are genuinely new this year.
The hot/cold system can leave a player cold — on the road, with the crowd up, he drops passes, throws inaccurately and can ignore hot routes. You can reset him:
The reset takes a play to land, and you get roughly three per game, so spend them on a drive that matters rather than the first cold icon you see.
The best-value hot route in the game for a back who is already running a route out of the backfield:
What you bought: if the defense blitzes, he stays in and picks it up; if they don't, he releases after a short delay. That delay is the point against zone — the underneath defenders write him off and sink to the routes behind him, and he comes open late in the space they vacated. You can put it on any back route, a Texas route included.
This is the cleanest answer to the "do I keep him in or send him out" guess that Pass Protection is otherwise full of.
Buried under Settings → Visual Feedback → Cameras → Modular Camera Settings. Set a camera independently for pre-play, drop back, carry ball, post-play and the rest: wide pre-play so you can read the alignment without zooming out by hand, standard when you carry the ball, broadcast on post-play replays.
The step people miss: after configuring the modular cameras, go back to the offense and defense camera settings and set each to Modular, or none of it applies.
Hold D-pad left, then left on the right stick. Lines appear from each blocker to the defender he is responsible for — who climbs to the second level, who is doubled, and, crucially, who is unaccounted for. Before a run, that tells you which gap has a free defender waiting and which way the cutback is actually open.
Double-tap a play's icon in the playbook to star it; every starred play collects under the Favorites tab. Worth reserving for plays you need fast rather than plays you like.
The one most people miss: favourite your field goal (and a QB sneak). When the clock is under ten seconds you do not want to be scrolling special teams — Favorites puts the kick one tab away.
Know the cost. Calling a play from Favorites resets your package adjustments on both sides of the ball — re-set packages after any Favorites call. See Quick Adjustments.
