What changed most recently
TITLE UPDATE 4.5 IS LIVE (Sep 22). Five gameplay changes confirmed by
EA ahead of release, full notes still unpublished. The one that changes how
you play: a contain called inside a custom adjustment now actually
registers — macro contains were being dropped some of the time. Also
QB spin moves behind the line are nerfed (arriving pressure finishes),
WR catch rates on off-target and hurried throws were "tuned" (watch
whether this offsets TU4's longer pass lead), run-action block targeting
improved, and a field-goal-block exploit with looping defenders fixed.
Deion Sanders joins as Colorado's head coach. —

AGGRESSIVE BLOCKING NOW DOES NOTHING (Sep 10 live update). EA removed
both the bonus and the holding risk. That's the third change in six weeks
(free at launch, flag-magnet from Aug 27, now inert). Set Balanced and
delete any aggressive-run-block macro. Ball Carrier Aggressive got the
nerf we warned about: its tackle-break bonus for user runners was
"significantly reduced." The CPU also adjusts better to repeated outside
runs, which matters offline and against CPU opponents. Run blocking as a
whole is still strong. What changed is that no setting boosts it anymore —

Dynasty: online multi-user leagues that the Sep 3 update locked out
are fixed, with no restart. The recruiting instant-commit glitch
(adding and removing a recruit on the board until he commits) was
quietly patched. A removed recruit now shows a lock. The in-game Top 25
was refreshed after Week 1, and new uniforms came in the same update.
Roster Update 2 (Sep 11): first in-season ratings. Week 1 standouts
got +1s (Malachi Toney 97, Cam Coleman and KJ Duff 93), and a few players
dropped a point. Ratings may now update weekly, so pull a fresh roster
before starting a dynasty.
MAN COVERAGE GOT NERFED (Title Update 4, Sep 3). EA re-tuned man
press to punish shading the wrong way of the release, so blind
inside-shading in 2-man-under and man-0 is now a liability; jostle
fixes let a better receiver pull away from a lower-rated DB; and two
offense buffs stack on top — zig routes finally cut correctly
against man, and the default downfield pass lead is longer so the
deep one-on-one stops getting underthrown. Man is still viable, not a
free lockdown. Also fixed: covered shell now respected from the play
call, combo coverage in press, cloud-flat drop depth —

The meta now: with contains nerfed (Aug 27) and man nerfed (Sep 3),
neither side has an every-down cheat. Pressure comes from sends /
stunts out of nickel single mug (set Empty pass protection to
handle the stunts everyone's shifting to); offense wins man with the
release, zig/return routes, and the thrown lead, not a single
gimmick. (Ball Carrier Aggressive was nerfed Sep 10, see the top
bullet.)
CORRECTION: Aug 27 was a gameplay patch, not just a roster drop.
Title Update 3.5 nerfed the contain-blitz meta — tackles now
identify wide-aligned linebackers and pick up contain rushers, so the
drag-the-OLB free rush and the DE loop are gone as every-snap
pressure. Contains still set the edge; they no longer sack. Dcroft's
call for the new pressure meta: sends. Ace of Chase, post-patch:
"you have to play good defense on most downs now" —

Aggressive blocking finally drew holding (Aug 27), often. (Since
Sep 10 it does nothing at all, see the top bullet.) Second straight run-game nerf after the
speed-boost removal; zone blocking got the one buff (better targeting).
Auto Flip Defensive Play Call ON is the new default. The slot-CB
stuck-on-flip bug is fixed and, with auto flip on, the whole defense
re-aligns every time the offense flips — no button. Also fixed: WRs
jumping on RAC catches, custom adjustments lost in hurry-up.
The roster update is in the same push: 1,961 new players, 1,069
freshmen, Lotzeir Brooks (Bama WR, 87) leads the class. Start your
new dynasty now — it needs a new file. Dynasty fixes ride along
(practice-XP skill points, Heisman ceremony, Dec 19 double-booking).
(That TU3.5 note "man coverage wasn't touched" is now closed — see
the Sep 3 bullet above; the man nerf is here.)
Week 0 scheme wave (Aug 27-29): new post-patch schemes and
counters were harvested alongside this — check the Offense and
Defense chapters for the newest dated articles.
The converging "best offense" pick: Oregon State bunch. Ginobili
runs it deep in ranked and Civil independently landed on the same
book (he left the Colorado Go-Go over red-zone struggles) —

articles this week: Air Raid Mesh and
BYU Split Close.
Universal gotcha: calling plays from Favorites resets your package
adjustments — both sides of the ball. Re-set packages after any
Favorites call.
Post-patch movement state: speed boosting stays dead (verified
again in UT play); speed outs got buffed — receivers no longer
gather-step out of the break. Kickoff returns look overtuned online;
watch for a tuning pass.
Speed boosting is dead and honest running is the skill gap — the

New for dynasty players: a Heisman-difficulty slider build joined
the Realistic Sliders roster, and
the Dynasty chapter covers points,
