Fifteen fundamentals from a pro Madden player. The theme: master ONE
formation until the muscle memory is automatic, then everything else layers
on top.
1. Choosing a formation
You do NOT have to match personnel in video game football — dime can stop
goal line. Instead pick one symmetrical base you can do everything from:
3-4, Nickel 3-3 (Mint / Over Jack / Single Mug), 4-2-5, 3-3-5 (High
Over, Three High), or 3-4 Tight. Avoid lopsided sets like 3-3 Load Mug
(flipping is painful and the slot corner doesn't flip — known bug).
A good base can: stop the run, play coverage (Tampa 2, quarters/match,
Cover 2 lurk), blitz, and play max coverage.
