Realistic Sliders and Coach Mode Sliders — User vs CPU, Coach Mode, CPU vs CPU

Updated Sep 20, 202617 min readsliderscoach-mode-slidersheisman-sliderssgn-v2block-in-the-backpass-rushrealismdynasty

Five tested builds for offline realism, by use case. Competitive/ranked players: sliders don't apply online — your lever is settings and coaching adjustments.

Before switching to any slider set:

  1. Go to Create and Share and delete your profile (a ~3-minute clean reset), then re-set your settings.
  2. Repeat the profile delete after any EA title update.
  3. Patch note: the Aug 6-7 title update defaulted the injury slider to 10; EA recommends existing dynasties on 25 drop to 10 — both sets below already agree.

Playing your dynasty (user vs CPU) — Sim Gaming Network, v2 (Sep 2026)

Updated Sep 11 and republished for coach mode Sep 14. SGN rebuilt this set after the August and September title updates, and it replaces his launch-era values. What changed: penalties and auto subs were retuned around a pass-rush discovery, fatigue went back to 50, and AI WR catching goes back on. If you used the old set, re-enter everything below.

SGN's core philosophy is unchanged: every player and CPU skill slider stays at 50. Skill sliders are hidden ratings buffs and nerfs, so moving them makes the real ratings matter less. He shapes gameplay with penalties and auto subs instead.

What v2 is built for: a pocket where the tackles match the QB's drop depth and pressure comes off the edges, not up the middle. The CPU QB reacts to that early pressure. He moves, throws on the run and scrambles, instead of standing still and taking a late sack from a defensive tackle. SGN says the set is harder on All-American than his old one, so play a couple of games there before moving to Heisman.

Setting Value Why
Skill level All-American Where the set was built. It carries to Heisman, but learn it on All-American first
Quarter length / play clock runoff 12 min / 25 sec Aim for realistic play counts. Drop the runoff to 20 or lower if you call plays quickly
Passing type Classic For the CPU, not you: the CPU QB plays noticeably better on Classic
Pass lead / vertical speed Large / 10
AI WR catching On (changed) The old set turned this off every game. A developer confirmed the bug was fixed in a recent update
House rule No user catching on either side So ball hawk and the switch-stick helpers go off
Injuries / fatigue / speed parity 10 / 50 / 50 Fatigue was 55 in the old set
Penalties → Illegal contact Off Not a college rule
All player + CPU skill sliders 50 Reset, then import from the main menu (Triangle/Y) inside your dynasty
Special teams Your call No recommendation in v2

Dynasty settings: play call limit 2, play-call cooldown off.

Penalties (these shape the gameplay, not just the flags)

Penalty Value Note
Offsides 55 The only defensive flag you'll really see. Drop one point at a time if it feels like too many
False start 50
Holding 53 Sweet spot. Adjust within 52-54 after a few games, not one; 55 is too many
Facemask 25 Cleans up tackle animations; still called about once every other game
DPI 50 Called almost at random, less than once a game
Block in the back 99 The key setting. It barely changes the flag count (one or two a game) but changes how the O-line blocks, and it's the main source of the new pocket
Roughing the passer 40 This works as the CPU QB's pressure sense. Lower means he gets rid of it sooner but throws shorter; 40 still leaves 20-35-yard throws and the occasional deep shot
Illegal contact Off

Auto subs — sub-out / sub-in

Position Out / In
QB 15 / 25
HB 70 / 85
WR 65 / 85
TE 74 / 76
OL 74 / 76
DT 76 / 78
DE 11 / 89
LB 20 / 60
CB 76 / 78
S 69 / 71
  1. Save them with Accept and Continue (bottom-left). Backing out with Circle/B does not save.
  2. These change how each position plays. They are not for rotation. Use wear-and-tear sliders plus the built-in wear-and-tear sub strategy for rotations. SGN gives no sub-strategy recommendation, so experiment.
  3. Weather sliders and wear-and-tear values are optional. SGN has separate videos for both, but this set doesn't depend on them.

Coach mode sliders (Sep 2026)

The short answer: use the SGN v2 set above, unchanged. SGN confirmed on Sep 14 that his coach-mode set is exactly the same as his user-vs-CPU set, so you can switch between playing and coaching games without touching a slider. Only the presentation settings differ:

  1. Coach mode on, coach perspective off. You get the real broadcast camera instead of the coach's-box view.
  2. Use the broadcast camera with camera toggle on rather than modular (his preference, not a requirement).
  3. Player names off and every visual-feedback option off, for a clean broadcast look.
  4. Aim for about 65-70 plays per team. 12-minute quarters with a 20- or 25-second runoff gets you close, depending on how fast you call plays.
  5. Classic passing still matters in coach mode, since it changes how the CPU QB plays for both teams.
  6. Injuries 10, fatigue 50, speed parity 50 (all defaults), All-American.

For XP, SGN hasn't released his own values yet. FaizedFox's coach-mode XP set (at the bottom of this article) is the tested option for fixing CPU rating inflation over several seasons.

Playing your dynasty, mirrored-skill approach — FaizedFox (updated for the Aug patches)

The second user-vs-CPU option, retested after the latest patches. It takes the opposite philosophy from SGN: skill sliders get moved, on the understanding of what they really are — hidden overall buffs/nerfs for a position group, not behavior changes. Moving QB accuracy down is effectively lowering every QB's overall; the point isn't harder or easier, it's stats that look like real college football. Pick one philosophy — don't blend the two sets.

The two structural rules:

  1. Mirror every CPU skill slider to the player value exactly. If you nerf your own QBs and not theirs, a CPU 90 OVR plays stronger than your nerfed 85 — mirroring keeps ratings honest on both sides.
  2. Leave pass coverage at default (50). It's the one skill slider that makes gameplay "get kind of messed up" when touched — realism comes from the interceptions slider instead.

League settings: All-American, 12-minute quarters, 20-second play clock runoff. He's 50/50 on whether the set holds up on Heisman (untested) — for realism he'd avoid Heisman.

Directional values (the full grid is on screen in the video; spoken anchors below — remember player and CPU are identical):

Slider Direction / value Why
QB accuracy Down (both sides) College QBs are far less accurate than the defaults pretend
Pass blocking Up a bit Pass blockers shouldn't be useless — and receivers shouldn't catch everything uncontested
WR catching 52 Small buff so receivers do their job
Run blocking Up a bit Not much
Ball security Down hard (below 30) Even at 30-35 fumbles barely happen unless you spam strip attempts
Interceptions Down Kills the crazy unrealistic pick animations
Pass coverage 50 — don't touch See rule 2
Tackling Down a bit Fewer superhero tackles, still competent
FG / punt power + accuracy Down Not every college kicker hits 45-50+ yarders; the punt-accuracy nerf forces more short/angled punts and worse field position
Injuries Keep his shown values "Works good whatever it is" — near default
Fatigue Up Pairs with wear-and-tear subs
Min player speed threshold 60 Below 60 "things happen that don't make sense" — this is the set's hard anchor
Precipitation penalties Up (all) Rain and snow should make everything harder

Penalties: his values run slightly hotter than default — expect a couple more flags per game; that's what realistic stats cost. Exception: roughing the kicker and running into the kicker → Off — they bug out and flag you on clean plays.

Wear and tear: tuned (similar to his coach-mode values) so backups actually rotate in and one player isn't playing every snap — this is the rotation tool, matching SGN's advice to use wear-and-tear subs rather than auto subs for rotations.

FaizedFox auto subs (retuned Aug 23 for the latest patch)

His companion auto-sub set, updated after the Aug 20 title update. Reminder: fatigue is a separate system from wear and tear — these sliders govern how tired players get and when backups rotate in, which is where second/third-stringers earn their XP. The pattern: ~10-point sub-out/sub-in gaps at skill positions, 20-point gaps where starters must stay on the field.

Position Sub out / Sub in Note
QB 65 / 75 Starter shouldn't disappear mid-first-quarter
HB 75 / 85 Raised from the earlier set — backs were swapping too often
WR up slightly (on-screen) Sub out, then back in quickly
TE up slightly (on-screen) Same treatment as WR
OL 65 / 85 20-point gap. Second-string O-line is a problem — never let fatigue drop below 60
DT 75 / 85
DE 75 / 85
LB out lowered / in raised (on-screen) Fatigued linebackers give up plays they shouldn't — keep starters in longer, then let backups bank XP
CB same gap as LB (on-screen)
S same gap as LB (on-screen)

These don't lock you in — manually sub anytime (a struggling starter, or resting starters with a lead); the sliders just remove the constant fatigue micromanagement.

Heisman, v2 — CSwee123 (the harder sim)

The one set here built for Heisman. Save it once from the homepage settings tab (Settings → save profile) and it uploads into any new dynasty — only the gameplay sliders carry over; dynasty settings, XP, and auto subs still need setting per file.

League settings

  1. Skill level Heisman, manual progression 0, verbal commit influence 25.
  2. Clock: 10-minute quarters / 20-second play clock (his pick), or 12 min / 16 s. Never set the play clock below 16 seconds — some pre-snap motions can't finish in time.
  3. Wear and tear: hit stick and cut stick up a hair, defender tackle advantage 38, sack impact 32, per-play recovery up (65 between quarters, 80 at half) — wear and tear stays real without deleting four starters a season.
  4. Transfer portal: 18 / 45 / 45 — your stars still demand NIL and leave, but the undeveloped bottom of the roster stops portal-ing out over snap counts.

Gameplay sliders (player / CPU)

Slider Player CPU
QB accuracy — 42
Pass blocking up slightly 55
WR catching 45 42
Run blocking 42 40 — the CPU run game is hot this season; raise it back if you want more
Ball security down ~2 48
Interceptions 38 30
Pass coverage 50 48
Tackling 62 55 — fewer egregious whiffs, jukes still work

Special teams: 42 across the board except kick power 52 (base-game punt power was already nerfed; elite punters may want 45 → down).

The system settings

  1. Injuries 15 (base defaulted to 10 post-patch; 15 brings some back).
  2. Fatigue 62.
  3. Min player speed threshold 30 — and the myth correction: lower does NOT make everyone slower, it makes the speed disparity bigger. The description says it plainly: lower = greater separation.
  4. Weather: slip scale 60, kicking accuracy more weather-affected, small movement penalty.
  5. Penalties default except DPI 65.
  6. Passing: Revamped, small pass lead increase, reticle 7, catch mechanic off (it's an online buff, not a sim tool).
  7. Defensive heat seeker window 40 — helps the game's animation lock without turning tackling into aimbot (100 literally steers you).

Auto subs + XP

  1. OL: fatigue 60/80, wear-and-tear custom 52/68. Same 52/68 custom on DT and DE — subs them before they play through damage.
  2. XP: TE 120, all three OL categories +10%, CB/FS/SS +5%, QB up (speed costs ~20 points a bump — this buys it), K/P +20.

PC only: two gameplay mods worth knowing — Canes21's (hard; designed around placement passing) and Free Flow by The Ice House (lighter touch, frequently updated). Console players skip this.

Heisman after the September updates — FaizedFox

A second Heisman set, retuned in mid-September after a month of EA changes (his August set predates them). It is the counterpart to his mirrored-skill All-American set above, so the same philosophy applies: the skill sliders are deliberately moved, and player and CPU values sit close together rather than being mirrored exactly.

The reason to look at this one: he says the CPU run game on Heisman is now genuinely strong after the September changes — "CPU run logic is insane now" — noticeably more so than on All-American. Both run-blocking values come down to keep your blockers competent against it.

League settings: Heisman, 12-minute quarters, 20-second minimum play clock.

Slider Player CPU Why
QB accuracy 38 42 Lowers CPU completion percentage and puts the burden on your own precision; Heisman's CPU otherwise plays "cheaty"
Pass blocking 52 55 Tuned against the raised penalty values below — the two work as a pair
WR catching 45 42 Generic and uncontested catches get dropped, which kills the spin-around backhanded catch animations
Run blocking 42 40 The CPU-run answer described above
Ball security 35 40 A realistic fumble count — not five a game, not zero. Heavy hits and strip attempts are rewarded
Pass coverage 50 48 Stops defenders breaking on the ball before the throw leaves
Interceptions down lower still No exact value given; both below default to cut the absurd picks
Tackling 52 55 Mitigates the slide-off physics while leaving the hit stick usable
FG / punt power + accuracy near default near default Barely touched in this set

System settings:

  1. Injuries down. On Heisman injuries fire more often than the number suggests, so set them lower than the value you actually want.
  2. Fatigue 60 (down from 70 in his August set).
  3. Minimum player speed threshold 45. He flags his own earlier mistake here: the slider is inverted, so a lower number means more speed separation between players. His August set had it at 60, which compressed the field. (CSwee123 makes the same correction in the set above.)
  4. Precipitation sliders up across the board, so rain and snow actually punish catching and kicking.
  5. Penalties: offsides and false start up, which is what keeps the defensive line from doing "weird stuff" without being flagged. Block in the back and roughing the passer stay at his previous values.

Tested across four or five seasons. His matching XP sliders were promised in a follow-up video; when it lands it belongs with the coach-mode XP set at the bottom of this article.

One caveat on the date. FaizedFox describes these as tuned for "the patch that happened on September 17th." There were no CFB 27 gameplay patch notes on Sep 17 — what landed that week was the Week 1 roster and ratings update, and the last gameplay changes were the Sep 10 live update (aggressive blocking neutered, Ball Carrier Aggressive nerfed) and Title Update 4 on Sep 3. See Patch Tracker. The set is post-September either way; only the label is off.

CPU vs CPU (watching games) — The Popboy's Game Lab

The problem on default: robo-QB — every passer, whatever his rating, plays like the game is on auto ball placement. These values make ratings matter. Everything not listed stays default.

Slider Value Why
Quarter length 12 min, no accelerated clock Realistic total play counts
Injuries 10 2-3 injury interruptions per game
Speed parity 38 The "rocket ball" effect (ball carriers outrunning pursuit angles) is better this year but still real — lower it, just not too far
QB accuracy 20 The big one. Makes average passers actually inaccurate
Pass blocking 50 Time-to-throw and pass-rush win rates measured fine on default
WR catching 30 Only ~1.5 drops per team per game, but the defense can finally separate ball from man at the catch point
Interceptions 60 Also raises overall pass-coverage quality, not just pick counts
Run blocking 48 CPU run game is genuinely fixed this year — no more 90s-and-pray
Ball security 22 Default had almost no fumbles
Tackling 47 Nudges broken-tackle rates up to realistic
FG power / FG accuracy 43 / 42 Kicking was overpowered across the board
Punt power / punt accuracy 44 / 48
Kickoff power 30 The CPU cannot return kicks; shortening kickoffs is the only way to get realistic starting field position

Coach mode dynasty XP — FaizedFox league + XP settings

Coach-mode context: CPU-controlled players earn XP differently than usered ones, so several positions inflate absurdly by year 3+ (he had multiple mid-90s CPU defensive tackles, and every team ends up with a ~90 OVR kicker on defaults). Tested across five-plus seasons.

League settings:

  1. Skill level All-American, 12-minute quarters, 20-second minimum play clock.
  2. Maximum transfers per team → 15.
  3. Wear and tear values differ from played-game sets — check them if you care.

XP slider direction (exact values are shown on screen in the video — the spoken anchors):

Position group Change
QB, HB, FB, OT, OG, FS Unchanged
WR Down to 90 — stops late-year receiver inflation
TE Reduced
C Bumped up
Edge, DT Reduced (mid-90s DT inflation)
MLB, OLB Lowered
SS Raised slightly — they don't play downfield as much
K, P Reduced hard — they earn tons of XP on defaults
